KATY ’S DESIGNER JOURNEY

Being destined for the yellow jersey of fashion

Lying on the stairs late at night, Katy watched her mother sew in secret in her little house in Gagnon on the North Shore. Her mother had to work late since she had three young children to take care of during the day. This devoted seamstress and mother made almost every piece of the family wardrobe. Katy and her two sisters had a designated color identifying the vast majority of the clothing items they wore. The eldest was therefore a little too often dressed in yellow. The rather monochrome appearance of Katy's clothes did not prevent her from enjoying modeling for her mother and developing her taste for fashion: a passion which led her to create her own clothing company from years later.

A look that defies norms

The status quo did not exist among the St-Laurents, everything could be rethought! Katy's dad certainly passed on to her his unique way of analyzing what surrounds him with perspectives that are always more innovative than the others. That must be, in some way, why the KSL designer doesn't just offer clothes, but rather invents new ways of dressing.

Transformable products designed by and for women

Katy was the very first in the Quebec fashion industry to design dresses that could really be used for sports. When all the pieces are thought out with the aim of doing better and encouraging women to consume less because they get more for their money, it is easy to understand the success of KSL. The list of original creations signed by Kathy is long and continues to grow year after year.
